A game is in development unlike any game you have seen before.
Gate Zero is a story-rich adventure video game that takes you back in time to explore 1st century Israel, interact with gospel stories and examine the deeper meaning of Jesus’ words.
Bible X Games has created a story based game where you travel back in time to complete a mission and along the way witness first hand where Jesus lived on Earth. Players will roam ancient Israel and discover items that provide historical and cultural context to the Bible!
Developers are utilizing the latest gaming technology to connect people to the story of Jesus! According to the latest data, there are approximately 3.09 billion active video gamers worldwide. That figure has risen by over 1 billion in just seven years, a 32% increase (stats by Exploding Topics.) Gamers will now have the opportunity to engage with Scripture on a platform they already spend hours on… video games!
Steve Vanmeter, associate pastor of Grace Church commented:
“Over 2.5 billion people are playing video games all over the world, so having something that helps you think about Scripture and the life of Jesus is really awesome.”
Getting the story right was very important to the creators:
“We aim for the game to be as Biblically and historically accurate as possible. We work closely with religious scholars and historians to ensure we maintain respect for the source material. We aim to create an inclusive and authentic game that can be enjoyed by a diverse audience.”
This game will include a unique feature called CoPlay that allows friends or family to join in using their mobile phones. The game is designed so anyone can play, whatever your level of gaming experience. Families or youth groups will be able to experience this game together, giving them opportunity to discuss the events of the Bible they are seeing in the game.
Gate Zero has already been tested by over 5,000 teens and in a prototype open demo on Steam. One female player (age 16-19) commented in a survey:
“It made me realize just how REAL Jesus and all of the people in the Bible are. They’re way more than just characters and the game helps realize that.”
So many video games lean toward themes of evil and violence. This game is an amazing opportunity to help players focus on truth and open up a door to conversations about Jesus.
