Sean Astin Learns How God Used His Scrooge Podcast Role to Encourage Faith in Others

You know him from The Goonies, you know him from The Lord of the Rings, but do you know him from SCROOGE: A Christmas Carol podcast?

I truly believe if I could describe Sean Astin in one word it would be… wholesome. He is such a cheerful guy with a huge heart and most of the characters he portrays fall into that category as well. So, when I heard that he was going to be playing Ebeneezer Scrooge, (one of the most heartless characters of all time) I was interested to see where this was going.

I was surprised to learn that Sean Astin‘s father, John Astin played Scrooge in the 90s, and then I actually listened to the podcast and suddenly things were starting to make complete sense.

“I play Samwise Gamgee whose famous line is ‘There’s some good left in this world and it’s worth fighting for’ which is sort of Scrooge at the end of this story.” | Sean Astin

Listen to the interview below to hear how this podcast completely changed someone’s life and how it teaches us to slow down, find the good, and not get caught up in the chaos of the world.

When Scrooge was miserable, the spirits came to him and helped him. In the same way, Jesus finds us at our lowest points and He still loves us, forgives us, and helps us when we need it!

And this powerful story of forgiveness and redemption includes Hollywood pros alongside Sean Astin like John Rhys-Davies (from Indiana Jones), and Bethany Joy Lenz (from Hallmark and One Tree Hill).

This new take on this classic tale has encouraged me to cherish the blessings I have and to intentionally spend time with my family. I hope that this podcast can bring you and your family the hope of Jesus this Christmas season, and every year after.
