Sean Astin Shares on GMA the Significance of Portraying Scrooge in New Podcast

From Goonies to Ghosts of Christmas. Sean Astin is starring in a brand new podcast, SCROOGE: A Christmas Carol Podcast alongside other incredible actors like John Rhys-Davies from Indiana Jones, Bethany Joy Lenz from One Tree Hill, and Ben Barnes from The Chronicles of Narnia.

The story of “A Christmas Carol” has been around for 180 years and remains a classic story, beloved by many.

“I think we all know that we have that grumpy, frustrated part of ourselves. And somehow we’re more aware of it at the holidays, and you see that there can be hope, light and joy and love, that brings people back to this story.” | Sean Astin

In this interview with Good Morning America Sean shares what drew him to the role of Scrooge and how this retelling is unique.

A fun fact you might not know, Sean Astin’s father, John Astin who played Gomez in the 1960’s Addams Family, also had the role of Scrooge in the mid 90s! So I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

“This Christmas with my wife and three kids, I want to be in the present.” | Sean Astin

Being intentional with your family during the holidays is so important. And you can live in the present with your friends and family this year by listening to this incredible podcast about forgiveness and redemption together.
