Who are you?
Those three simple words can spark a million thoughts at a time. You may respond with your name, your job, or where you come from. Or maybe you don’t know how to answer that question. When we have a relationship with Jesus, nothing can define us but Him and His word.
In God’s eyes, your past, your present, and your future do not define you. Not even millions of fans cheering you on from the football stands will show who you are. In his interview before the Super Bowl LVIII, Brock Purdy expands on this point that our identity is in Jesus Christ alone! Check it out.

“Our identity isn’t found in the sport of football, it’s in who God calls us to be and what He wants us to do in life.” | Brock Purdy
In this age of social media influence and individualism, we find ourselves pressured to be the best. Get into the best college, get the best job, get the most money, the most likes and follows etc. None of that matters to God. So, you can take a deep breath.
Does this mean that we shouldn’t try our best or that we should just stop trying altogether? Absolutely not.
The Bible tells us in Colossians that “whatever we do, we should work at it with all our hearts.” But it’s a great reminder that we don’t have to worry or stress ourselves out over our work, what we wear, or what we look like because it’s not what makes us who we are.
“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear? These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.” | Matthew 6:31-33
In case you forgot, know that you are loved, seen, heard, and can identify yourself as a child of God!

I am such a fan of Brock Purdy. He is an amazing athlete and I admire him as a “celebrity” for being so vocal about his faith. He is so mature and composed at the young age of 24. What a great role model he is for kids and adults. I’m excited to see what God has planned for him next…
I’m already a Niners fan and this just made me appreciate Brock Purdy even more! What a light shining for Jesus!
