How to Pray for Mark Hall After Losing His Father

Someone once told me that you can’t love someone as if they will live forever.

On the morning of February 27th, the lead singer of Casting Crowns, Mark Hall, lost his father and his hero John Barry Hall. There is a reason we refer to our family and closest friends as our “loved ones.” We love them so much that we experience some of our deepest pain when they leave this world.

“So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again; then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy.” John 16:22

The Casting Crowns team is working diligently to reschedule concert dates as the band just announced the spring season of their 20th-anniversary tour.

As believers, we can support Mark and his family during this time is through prayer. Here are a few specific ways to start:

1. Pray that God’s peace and comfort surround this family.

“Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” | Philippians 4:7

2. Pray for wisdom and clarity.

“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” | James 1:5

3. Pray for strength.

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” | Isaiah 40:31

Three years ago Mark watched his mother take care of her sick parents who went on to be with the Lord. In response to all of this, Mark wrote a vulnerable song about death that has ministered to so many lives. At the time no one knew, but Mark was also writing this song in honor of his father whose health had begun declining.

It is no secret that Mark Hall knows how to take these intense emotions and create melodies that speak to the hearts of millions. If you’ve read this and your loved one has passed away, take hope in the fact that they don’t feel pain anymore. To watch the full music video, just tap the button below.
