Don’t Grow Weary: The Mile 25 Breakthrough

Somewhere between “I’ve got this” and “Why did I sign up for this?” is where most of life happens.

Just ask Nathan Martin.

At the Los Angeles Marathon, he wasn’t leading—until the final stretch. He chased down the front-runner and won by less than a second.

Let that sink in…

But here’s the real twist: he wasn’t the fast kid growing up. Just a middle-of-the-pack runner who kept showing up. Years later, as a substitute teacher and cross-country coach, he stayed consistent—and ended up beating a seasoned Kenyan runner on one of the biggest stages.

That’s not just a race… that’s a reminder.

“The race is not to the swift…” (Ecclesiastes 9:11)

When You Feel Like Quitting

There’s always a moment that whispers, “You’ve come far enough.”

But Galatians 6:9 says don’t grow weary in doing good—because the breakthrough often waits at the very end.

Mile 25 is where:

  • you’re tired
  • you’re doubting
  • you want to coast

And it’s exactly where you’re called to keep going.

Finish Strong

You may not be running through Los Angeles, but you are in a race.

And your miracle might be one more step away.

So if you feel like quitting?

Don’t.

You don’t have to start fast to finish strong.
