Carrie Underwood Reminds Us Why It’s So Important to Serve in Church

Carrie Underwood may be the newest American Idol judge, but on Sundays, she’s just another voice in the choir.

Churchgoers at Rolling Hills Community Church in Franklin, TN (just outside of Nashville), experienced a moving and unexpected surprise on Sunday morning when country music superstar Carrie Underwood led the congregation in a version of Bethel‘s, “Goodness of God.”

Carrie Underwood has always been open about her faith, even releasing a gospel album. Yet, it can still feel surprising to see a celebrity like her on stage at a local church, leading worship just like anyone else.

It’s fascinating how celebrity culture makes us think that famous people are somehow worlds apart from us. Sure, their lives are filled with press and attention, and privacy is a luxury they often lack. But here’s the kicker—if you serve in your church, you’ve got something in common with Carrie Underwood.

Despite her years of fame, she still finds time to sing and lead worship at her local church. Being part of a community of believers is powerful, and getting involved makes it even more rewarding.
