Lauren Daigle Leads Thousands in Worship at the US Capitol

This year marks the 45th anniversary of PBS’s A Capitol Fourth, a 4th of July celebration broadcast live from the U.S. Capitol lawn. And one of the powerful moments this year came when Lauren Daigle took the stage to lead thousands in worship while everyone’s phones and fireworks lit up the sky!

While Lauren sings the lyrics to her song “Rescue,” PBS took a moment to highlight first responders in our nation.

🎤 1. “Rescue”

Phones lit the sky in the audience, echoing lyrics like:

“I will send out an army to find you in the middle of the hardest fight.”

Veterans, first responders, and families were anchored by her words. One viewer noted on social media that they saw a firefighter and an Air National Guard vet gripped by emotion.

☀️ 2. “Walking on Sunshine”

Shifting the mood from worship to celebration, earlier that day, Lauren delivered “Walking on Sunshine.” As she sang, the audience cheered, celebrated, and jumped to their feet.

🇺🇸 3. “America the Beautiful”

It’s not the first time we’ve heard Lauren’s unique sound on “America the Beautiful.” This rendition felt like worship even through a national melody—beautifully honoring God, country, and unity.

🎆 Why This Moment Matters

Millions watched live or via streaming platforms like PBS, YouTube, and the American Forces Network. On the lawn of the Capitol, before the fireworks and cheering, there was a collective pause; a moment of worship before a celebration.

If you missed the live broadcast, you can catch Lauren’s full set, and the entire A Capitol Fourth special is streaming now on PBS, YouTube, or via the PBS app through mid-July.

These songs remind us that our freedom story is God’s story of rescue, joy, and hope.
