for KING + COUNTRY Open Up About Their Childhood and the Struggles of Immigrating to the U.S.

The Smallbone family left Australia with no money, no car, and one big dream.

“We felt loved and protected, and even though the circumstances were incredibly challenging we still had a lot of fun, and adventure.” – Luke Smallbone

The Smallbones immigrated to the US in the 90s, and with seven children it was not an easy journey. The boys call their mom an “Unsung Hero” for her unfailing bravery through trials and for being the rock that holds their family together both then and still today.

Watch this interview where Joel, Luke, and their mom Helen Smallbone share their powerful story of faith, family, and immigration with Erick from Vida Unida. Many people can relate to and be encouraged by their stories of trusting God in hardship and sticking together as a family no matter what they face.

“If it wasn’t for the local community embracing us and supporting us, and if it wasn’t for God- to seek Him and make sense of what we were doing, it just would have been too hard. I think we would have had to pack up and go home, and we had nothing to go home to.” (04:09) | Helen Smallbone

You can catch their family’s full story with Unsung Hero in theaters on April 26th which they are calling “Family Day.” To watch the trailer and find out how to buy tickets tap HERE.
