Steven Curtis Chapman’s dream just came true.

On July 27th, 2024 Steven Curtis Chapman was inducted to become the newest Grand Ole Opry member in an announcement made by Ricky Skaggs. There are 230 members, including several legendary country artists like Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks, etc. When a new member is inducted, they surprise them live on stage! This honor is based on standards of success in country music—radio airplay, recorded music sales, touring success, and industry recognition. SCC has had 50 no. 1 singles in his lifetime and has several other music awards to mention- but this is big news!

Most of these artists have sung Christian songs, or even released gospel albums, but Steven Curtis Chapman is the first Contemporary Christian artist to make this list. Watch as this surprise literally takes him to his knees. 

Steven Curtis Chapman performed on this stage for the first time when he was 19 years old. Over 40 years later, he received this special honor and is still making great music to this day!
