Skillet’s New Album “Revolution” is Unlike Anything They’ve Done Before

🤘Panheads, rise up! 🤘

SKILLET is set to release their first independent album, “REVOLUTION,” on November 1, 2024. After two decades with Atlantic Records, the band has decided to take a bold new path on their own.

“I had some really good relationships, so that was the hard part is that I liked the people that I worked with a lot and learned a lot from them, But it just felt like a new season. It just feels like it’s time for a change.” | John Cooper

John told Billboard Records that this album is going to be unlike anything they’ve done before. It’s got the “arena songs” and some tunes that are more nostalgic and throwback Skillet.

This new album revolves around a ‘revolution of love,’ inspired by 1 Corinthians 13:13. If you look closely, you’ll spot this verse in the corner of the flag on their album cover.

“Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.” | 1 Corinthians 13:13 (NLT)

To tease their new album last week (Aug. 9th) they released a single from the new album “Unpopular.”

“‘Unpopular‘ is lighthearted, but there’s a clear message, So many people don’t have a place to belong. You used to know your neighbors. Our communities are online now, which contributes to the loneliness. one of the things I hope people get from the record is courage. I think when people know that they aren’t alone then they go, ‘Oh okay, then I can stand up. ” | John Cooper

Lyrics:

Am I the only one who ain’t come undone?
Everybody’s lost their dang minds
When you check your feed, it’s like clown TV
And you’re waitin’ for the punchline

Oh, my, my, hey, yeah

Guess I’m a loner in the crowd
Oh, my, my, hey, yeah
Guess I’m the one you’ve been talkin’ about
Guess I’m the one you’ve been talkin’ about
Unpopular, unpopular
Call me out, clasp down
Can’t supplement true facts
Have you heard? I’m a commoner
Got my family, sanity, everything I need
If freedom is disease, who would ever wanna be popular?
For what it’s worth, I think today’s a good day to be unpopular

I won’t apologize when I speak my mind
I’m just bein’ me, so lay off
If thinkin’ for myself is called raisin’ Hell
I guess that I’m an outlaw, whoo

Oh, my, my, hey, yeah I ain’t a loner in the crowd
Oh, my, my, hey, yeah

Guess we about to be gettin’ loud
Guess we about to be gettin’ loud
Unpopular, unpopular
Call me out, clasp down
Can’t supplement true facts
Have you heard? I’m a commoner
Got my family, sanity, everything I need
If freedom is disease, who would ever wanna be popular?
For what it’s worth, I think today’s a good day to be unpopular

As believers, it is not out of the ordinary to feel like you don’t belong or out of place. The Bible even says that we are to be set apart (Deuteronomy 14:2). We are in the world and not of the world.

You may be unpopular, but you will always be loved. While you’re waiting on their new album, guess their top hits with John, Corey, Jen, and superfans in the Song Battle below! ⬇️
