COVID-19 has led to a lot of anxiety. For those of us who know Christ personally, we can confidently take those to him. For those who don’t, they’re looking for peace wherever they can find it.
“Do you wanna know how I found your webpage? I went into Google, and I asked Siri, ‘How can I get saved?’ And your page popped up.” David, whose name has been changed for privacy, is a police officer who went searching for hope while he waited on his COVID-19 results.
The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association published this true story from the chat feature on their website.
David was scared. He was familiar with Christianity and thought he had a pretty good grip on being good enough. The unknown of COVID had him looking deeper within himself where he only found more anxiety.
Gloria was his chat assistant that day. David was clear he was interested in a sales pitch. He wanted real answers if she had them. So Gloria simply shared the truth and they had a few laughs.
I think the best part of this whole story is how unremarkable it is. Gloria didn’t have anything fancy to say. She didn’t overwhelm David by over explaining every verse. She didn’t brush off his concern by just saying, “Oh you read the prayer of salvation? You’re good to go now!” Gloria asked good questions, noticed where he was coming from, and gave him God’s Truth.
If you need prayer or someone to chat with, someone is waiting to support you on our prayer wall.
