Anyone else feeling a little disturbed by the news lately?
Yeah… me too.
Headlines about Epstein files. Murders. Corruption. Abuse. Exploitation. It feels heavy. Dark. Almost suffocating.
You may be feeling a few things right now… disappointment, outrage, grief, even a burning sense of injustice in your soul. Some of us feel physically sick when we see the depth of evil in this world.
And honestly? Praise God we do.
Because the day we scroll past stories like this without flinching… that’s the day something in us has hardened. One of the scariest places to be is shrugging and saying, “Oh, that’s just Hollywood,” or “That’s just how powerful people are.”
No. Evil should still shock us. Sin should still grieve us. Injustice should still stir something deep inside.
That reaction? It means your heart is tender.
But here’s the tension:
We can’t normalize evil… and we also can’t live consumed by it.
Jesus, we need You right now.
If you’re tired of scrolling through disturbing videos and if you feel anxious every time you open an app and if you’re overwhelmed by what’s being uncovered…
Let’s remember this: God did not call us to live in fear. So how do we respond in a season like this? Here are three ways to step back from the noise and step into God’s peace, without ignoring what’s happening.
1. Step Away From the Scroll
There’s a difference between being informed and being immersed.
When we constantly consume dark content, it shapes our thoughts, our emotions, and even our view of humanity. At some point, we have to put the phone down.
Not because we don’t care.
But because our souls need rest.
Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.”
Stillness is hard when notifications are nonstop. Try this: set a boundary. Take a day off social media. Turn off news alerts. Replace 30 minutes of scrolling with 30 minutes in Scripture or worship. You are allowed to protect your peace.
2. Bring Your Anger to God, Not Just the Internet
It’s okay to feel outraged. God hates injustice more than we do.
But venting only online can slowly turn into bitterness. Instead, take that anger to prayer.
Tell Him exactly how you feel. Ask Him to bring truth to light. Ask Him to protect the vulnerable. Ask Him to bring justice in ways only He can.
Romans 12:19 reminds us that vengeance belongs to the Lord.
That doesn’t mean we ignore evil. It means we trust that justice ultimately rests in God’s hands, not ours.
3. Choose Light on Purpose
When darkness feels loud, light has to be intentional.
Call a friend and pray together. Serve someone in your community. Donate to an organization protecting children. Have real conversations about integrity and truth in your own circles.
We may not control global headlines, but we do control how we live in our homes, churches, and communities.
Evil thrives in secrecy.
Light exposes it.
And Jesus calls us the light of the world.
If you feel horrified by evil, that doesn’t make you dramatic. It means your heart reflects God’s heart. He is grieved by sin. He cares deeply about justice. He sees every hidden thing.
We stand against evil.
We stand for truth.
And we stand together as believers.
Keep walking with Him. Keep your heart tender. Keep choosing light. And if you need prayer right now, we would love to stand with you. Visit our prayer wall and let us lift you up.
