Angel Studios makes a rom-com with Kevin James? And the guy who plays Jesus? What?
The same company whose crowd-powered storytelling helped launch The Chosen into the cultural phenomenon it is today is stepping into brand-new territory with its very first romantic comedy. Solo Mio, starring Kevin James and Jonathan Roumie (best known for his beloved role in The Chosen), is set to hit theaters nationwide on February 6, 2026, just in time for Valentine’s Day weekend.
🎬 What Solo Mio Is (Really) About
The film follows Matt Taylor (Kevin James), a man whose dream wedding in Rome falls apart when his fiancée leaves him at the altar. Rather than cancel his plans, Matt decides to embark on the honeymoon trip alone, immersing himself in Italy’s culture, food, unexpected friendships along the way.
Jonathan Roumie plays Neil, one of the people Matt meets during his journey. This part marks a welcome new genre for Roumie, who is widely known for his character of Jesus in The Chosen and his work in Jesus Revolution. But this story is very much its own romantic comedy, not a faith film in the traditional sense.
