Archie Williams was released from Angola state penitentiary, one of America’s deadliest prisons, in 2019 thanks to the nonprofit The Innocence Project. After 37 years in prison, The Innocence Project found DNA and fingerprint evidence that led to the real offender and Williams’s freedom.
Now 59 years old, Archie told America’s Got Talent, “Freedom is of the mind, I went to prison but I never let my mind go to prison.”
“When you’re faced with dark times, what I would do is I would pray and sing; this is how I got peace,” he said.
