Michael W. Smith & for KING + COUNTRY Drop Reimagined Hit ‘Place In This World’

Does anyone remember the #6 song in America in 1991? I’ll give you a hint…the artist had a mullet at the time.

That song would be “Place In This World” by the legendary Michael W. Smith. for KING + COUNTRY have brought this song back to life 34 YEARS LATER with their own version in collaboration with Michael himself. This is the first song released on the soundtrack for the upcoming film, Unsung Hero. Check out this video.

Unsung Hero tells the story of how Luke and Joel Smallbone’s mother and father immigrated to America from Australia and raised 6 kids (including this duo and their sister Rebecca St. James) to start a new life.

The lyrics of this song perfectly capture the journey of the Smallbone family’s heart in this movie.

“The wind is moving but I am standing still. A life of pages waiting to be filled. A heart that’s hopeful, a head that’s full of dreams. But this becoming is harder than it seems. Feels like I’m, looking for a reason, roaming through the night to find, my place in this world.” | Michael W. Smith

Here’s the lyric video, so you can hear this reimagined rendition of a 90s classic ⬇️

And that’s not where the fun stops. This is just the first of many “inspired-by” songs that will be on an upcoming album from for KING + COUNTRY. Find out how to buy tickets to see Unsung Hero here.

Can’t say that I’m a big fan of this rendeition. It has not the feel or the vibe of Smitty’s original.

I’m a widow of 5 years now and was thinking how this song relates to how I and other widows feel after our spouse is no longer here.

Nope. Not even close. Took a great song and made it mediocre. But, if it resonates with this generation then it’s a win.

Beautiful job. Expressive and well done. The song take a big vocal range, which Luke has but MWS barely had even when he was young. (I feel that pain because my voice is almost exactly the same.) Luke just jumps up on those high notes and even adds a couple of higher flourishes. Love it!

I already cried watching an Unsung Hero screening — and when I say cried, I mean sobbed. Good tears, tho! Now hearing this song again – bringing back high school memories — I’m clicking away so I don’t start crying again! LOL!
