5 Things Moms Do That Only God Sees

“We have magical Chick-fil-A sauce in the fridge!”

I was so confused by my son’s declaration as he squirted his favorite sauce onto his dinner plate. “What do you mean?” I asked.

“We’ve had this same sauce bottle since I was like 3, and it never runs out. Every time I go to use it there is MORE!”

There you have it. The proof that mommas are magic! We are refilling things in the house without anyone even noticing.

Motherhood is so many things wrapped into one. It is the most joyful and meaningful work of my LIFE but also the most challenging. There are so many things I am sure you do—quietly, faithfully, constantly—that your kids may miss saying thank you for. Not because they don’t care, but because they don’t even realize how much you’re holding together. So let me step in and say it for them:

Here are five things your kids might not notice… but I know God sees every single one.

1. The Mental Load You Carry

From remembering doctors’ appointments to juggling school schedules, you keep it all running. You make the magic happen—planning, coordinating, adjusting behind the scenes—so no one else has to think about it.

Caring for a family is mentally taxing. There are so many moving parts! But just because you make it look easy doesn’t mean it is.

2. Stocking the House Like a Pro

How does the toilet paper never run out? How are there always snacks? How is there always a last-minute birthday gift for the party someone forgot to tell you about? That’s you.

And while your kids probably take that for granted, I know how much thought and effort it takes. Your diligence and quiet service speak volumes about your love—and your faith. You are the unsung provider in a dozen small ways every day.

3. Making Everyone Feel Seen, Known, and Loved

You notice when your child is quiet after school. You hear what they’re not saying. You pray over their anxious hearts and celebrate their little wins. You remember who likes their sandwich cut into triangles.

You make yourself available and drop everything when your kid needs to talk. You are intentional with every single person in your home, making sure they feel known, valued, and loved. You are living out God’s heart—making sure every person under your roof knows they matter. That’s sacred work.

4. The Sacrifices You Don’t Speak Of

You give of yourself daily—your time, your energy, your body, your sleep, your dreams. Sometimes you even set aside your own needs for the sake of those you love. I do NOT have a clean house or nice things in this season with small kids but I know it won’t be like that forever.

Each “no” you have said to something that wasn’t right for you or your family was an act of selfless love, and it is beautiful! Your children might not realize it now, but you are teaching them what Christlike love looks like: a love that lays itself out on the line, joyfully.

5. Living Out Your Faith for Your Kids to See

You teach them about the God of the universe in the everyday things you do. You worship when you’re weary. You speak the truth when it’s hard. You sing along to the radio when your favorite worship song comes on!

Even on days when your own faith feels fragile, you are planting seeds in their hearts—seeds of trust, of grace, of God’s unfailing love. And God promises those seeds will not return void.

So this Mother’s Day, I just want to say:

Thank you.

For the emotional, physical, and spiritual weight you carry. For the legacy of faith you’re building. God doesn’t miss any of it. Raising the next generation takes brave women of faith and I’m thankful you are on this journey with me. The small things you do matter more than you know.

You are a blessing to your family, a gift to this world, and a powerful reflection of God’s love.

Happy Mother’s Day.
