I remember driving down the road with my dad while I was visiting my parents a few months ago. Now that I’m working in a different state, it makes that quality time together that much more special. The song “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac came on the radio. This song talks about the ever-changing seasons of life and how we’re all getting older. I glanced over to my dad who was driving, and noticed tears started to well in his eyes.

Came as a bit of a surprise, because I could probably only count a few times on my hand the number of times I’ve seen my dad cry. He immediately began making jokes about allergies or a bug flying in his eye- but I knew.

I just looked over at him, kept singing, and started crying too.

I just got this beautiful image in my head. Not only because of the love of my earthly father, but because- there are some things we can’t control. There are some things that just don’t make sense. But our heavenly Father is looking down on us, cheering us on, and we can sing, cry, and talk to Him whenever we want. Because He loves us.

The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.” | Psalms 103:13
