4 Fun, Family-Friendly Movies to Watch This Easter

Easter weekend is a great time to connect with family and friends. As you look at your calendar for this upcoming weekend, you probably see time set aside to go to church, enjoy an Easter egg hunt, and probably eat a delicious home-cooked meal. But when the busyness calms down and you settle in for the evening, what’s next?

One of my favorite Easter traditions is getting comfy on the couch at the end of the day and watching a feel-good movie with my family. If you’re wondering what to watch this Easter weekend, aside from the expected Easter films, here is a list of some of my favorite heartwarming, encouraging, and even funny films.

The Resurrection of Gavin Stone

Gavin Stone is a former child actor who has grown up in the chaos and confusion of stardom without a solid support system to help him navigate the spotlight. When forced to do community service, he takes a janitorial position at a local church. What starts as an apprehensive decision turns into a life-changing, faith-giving, and humbling experience as he is cast to play Jesus in the church’s upcoming production of their Easter play. Befriending the pastor’s daughter and a group of unexpected misfits, Gavin experiences the significance of second chances, from both his friends and Jesus.

This movie will make you laugh, cry, and remember the incredible significance of what Jesus did on the cross. No one is too far gone- not Gavin Stone, and not you.

Just in Time

When Hannah and her husband, Rowan, struggle to conceive, their marriage faces a heaviness like never before. It’s through meeting a new friend, Franklin, that Hannah learns the importance of God’s timing as they work together to find the owner of an antique item. Through this journey, Hannah and Rowan are reminded that sometimes the most trying and terrifying times in life turn out to be the most beautiful.

Faith-forward, marriage-and-family focused, this film is a beautiful reminder of God’s faithfulness. If you’re navigating the journey of marriage or starting a family, this movie will resonate with you and bring a sense of comfort.

The Blessing Bracelet

Waitress Dawn is facing foreclosure in the midst of her financial struggles. To remind herself of God’s provision, she makes a blessing bracelet, where each bead represents something God has blessed her with. What starts as a personal reminder turns into a blessing of its own when others want to purchase blessing bracelets, helping her to escape her financial strain. But Dawn learns that the true blessing isn’t financial freedom- it’s the people and circumstances that God brings along the way to serve as a reminder of His provision and faithfulness.

After watching this film, you will have a fresh perspective on God’s provision, and you’ll probably want to make a blessing bracelet of your own!

An Easter Bloom

April showers might bring May flowers, but gardener Amanda has lost her crops to a harsh frost. Struggling to meet her financial obligations without flowers to sell, she enters a floral competition for Easter. When circumstances seem hopeless, local pastor, Derrick, reminds Amanda that God has never abandoned her, and He is in the midst of all the details. Revealing an unexpected past of his own, Pastor Derrick shows up as a friend to Amanda and a source of fresh perspective on what a faith journey can look like.

Beautiful flowers, small-town coffee shops, and a reminder that everyone’s journey in faith and life looks different. What’s not to love?
