What does peace look like in your life? Is it the last vacation you took? The precious minutes in the morning you get before the rest of your family wakes up? The 90 seconds it takes to sing Silent Night on Christmas Eve?
Anytime I think of “peace,” it’s in one of these moments. It’s there, you can inhale it and feel it, but then it’s gone. The problems and frustrations come right back. The news reminds us that the world isn’t at peace, and our social media feed confirms it.
If you’re carrying around a broken heart today because of the lack of peace in your life, there’s good news in the Christmas story for you. And it’s more than a fleeting moment of peace.
Check out this beautiful explanation from The Bible Project of how Jesus was born to bring a peace that can restore what feels broken within us.

The Bible Project explains, “Peace takes a lot of work. It’s not just the absence of conflict. True peace requires taking what’s broken and restoring it to wholeness whether it’s in our lives, in our relationships, or in our world.”
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
(Isaiah 9:6 The New Living Translation)
