TobyMac’s ‘Faithfully’ Music Video Tells Us That God Is Always By Our Side

Even in our darkest hour, God will be there faithfully.

Losing someone you love is hard. Grief is that kind of hurt that can’t be put into a box or category. It is different for everyone. And the Bible tells us that there is a time to mourn and a time to dance (Ecclesiastes 3:4 NLT). And to mourn with those who are mourning (Romans 12:15 NLT).

I remember the day when my pawpaw died. I was in the car with my dad and my sister driving to meet my mom and family. And I have this specific memory, where all I could do was worship. Sit in God’s presence, and let Him comfort me.

In that same way, TobyMac wrote this song after the passing of his son Truett. Unimaginable loss and pain, yet the Lord met Toby so quietly and gently. And He said He would never leave.

Check out the music video and then make sure to watch Toby tell the story behind the song in the videos below.

Lyrics:

It’s been a long year, it almost took me down, I swearLife was so goodI’m not so sure we knew what we hadI’ll never be the same manI’ll never feel like I felt before (felt before)It’s been a hard year, it almost took me down
But when my world broke into piecesYou were there faithfullyWhen I cried out to You, JesusYou made a way for meI may never be the same manBut I’m a man who still believesWhen I cried out to You, JesusYou were there faithfully
I’ve had a hard timeFindin’ the blue in the skies above meAnd if I’m keepin’ it realI’ve been half-faking the happy they seeI may look like the same manBut I’m half the man I was (half the man I was)
In my darkest hour, You met meSo quietly, so gentlyYou said you’d never leaveAnd You stood by Your word
When I cried out to You, JesusYou were there faithfully
