Why does talking about faith with someone who believes differently feel so intimidating?
For a lot of Christians, those conversations come with fears like: What if it turns into a fight? What if I say the wrong thing? What if I walk away feeling like I misrepresented Jesus? That tension alone is often enough to keep us silent.
That’s exactly the kinds of fears that are faced in Between Beliefs, a brand new podcast where the host Carder sits down and talks to people of all kinds of different beliefs and seeing where they align and where they are different.
Not to argue. Not to “win.” But to understand what people actually believe, beyond assumptions, stereotypes, or internet memes. Check out the trailer.
“Let’s stop talking about each other and start talking to each other.”
In this episode, Carder sits down with 3 missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, often referred to as Mormons. They discuss why Joseph Smith said the gospel needed to be “restored” and yes, they cover whether members of the church will get their own planet one day.
Carder openly shares why these conversations have always felt hard for him and why he believes they’re still necessary. If we want to respond lovingly to people who believe differently, we first have to understand what they believe.
That starts with listening. The kind of listening that doesn’t interrupt, doesn’t assume, and doesn’t come armed with a rebuttal.
Throughout the episode, you’ll hear moments of agreement, moments of disagreement, and moments that challenge you to think more deeply about your own faith.
Between Beliefs isn’t about compromising truth. It’s about trusting that Jesus is big enough to meet us in conversations that feel uncomfortable.
