This Bible-Based Drama Is Now the #2 Show on Amazon Prime | ‘House of David’

Christian shows are taking over Amazon Prime—and we’re here for it!

Right now, two Bible-based series are absolutely dominating on Amazon Prime, and it’s such a beautiful thing to see. House of David has officially claimed the #2 spot for all shows on the platform, and The Chosen is still hanging strong in the top ten.

Not to mention the theater release of Season 5 of The Chosen has been in movie theaters everywhere. Let’s just say Christian storytelling is having a moment!

House of David follows the life of—yep, you guessed it—David from the Bible, and the lead role is played by actor Michael Iskander. Michael is a young actor who really has made his debut on Broadway– starring in Kimberly Akimbo.

He recently went on The Kelly Clarkson Show and shared something really cool: before he ever got the role, he told his family while they were watching The Chosen that he told them he dreamed of playing King David one day. Kelly and Michael bonded over how their start in music was very similar.

But if that doesn’t warm your heart enough, here’s the moment that really got us: there’s a recent interview between Michael Iskander and Jonathan Roumie (aka Jesus from The Chosen), where they talk about the weight of portraying these iconic biblical figures.

The conversation took an emotional turn when they opened up about exhaustion and the pressure that can come with the platform.

Both Michael and Jonathan talked about the importance of rest, knowing that it’s “not all on us”, and letting Jesus carry us. Michael became emotional while talking about how sustaining strength can only come from the Lord—and Jonathan didn’t hesitate. He stood up, hugged Michael, and reminded him (and honestly all of us) that God’s got it.

It’s powerful to see these shows thriving on such a major platform, not just for entertainment, but for faith.

For young actors like Michael who dreamed of these roles, for seasoned storytellers like Jonathan who know the cost of the call, and for all of us watching at home—it’s a reminder that God is still telling His story.
