Lauren Daigle just released a new song called “Let It Be a Hallelujah,” and there’s a reason it took her 8 years to put it out into the world.
She originally co-wrote it with a producer named Busbee (Michael James Ryan Busbee), who worked with countless iconic artists like Kelly Clarkson, Maren Morris, Colton Dixon, and so many others. Right after their first writing session, he found out he had a brain tumor. Tragically, he passed away in 2019 from brain cancer.
After that, Lauren and her team just… couldn’t release it. It didn’t feel right. So they waited. And waited. And now, years later, with the blessing of Busbee’s family and her label, they finally decided it was time.

She said releasing it now feels like a gift to his family, and honestly, to all of us too.
“In every breaking moment
In every blessing that You give
Let it be a hallelujah.”
Knowing the story behind those lyrics makes them hit a little deeper, doesn’t it?
Because let’s be real, it’s really hard to worship when you’re walking through something heartbreaking. When someone you love is gone, or life looks nothing like you thought it would, the last thing you feel like doing is praising God.
But somehow, worship in those moments becomes even more powerful. It’s not about having it all together. It’s about saying, “God, I trust You… even now.”
That’s what this song feels like. And maybe that’s why it needed to wait 8 years, because now, more than ever, we need that reminder.
