The First Christian Music Museum Opens Fall 2025

Christian music fans, pack your bags — we’re going to Nashville.

Something big is coming to the heart of Music City, and no, it’s not another country line-dancing boot store. The Gospel Music Association is opening a legit museum dedicated to just Christian and Gospel music.

Say hello to the Museum of Christian & Gospel Music, a brand-new, 11,000-square-foot slice of music history opening this Labor Day weekend in downtown Nashville.

And we’re not talking old hymnals and dusty plaques (although we love a good hymn). This place is going to be an immersive journey from the past, present, and future of Christian music.

Just around the corner from the Ryman Auditorium (aka the Mother Church of Country Music). Yep — our music is getting its moment in the spotlight.

What’s inside?

Glad you asked, because this isn’t just some quiet little walk-through museum. This is an experience. Here’s what you’ll find:

  • Interactive exhibits that take you through the journey of Christian and Gospel music — from Mahalia Jackson to Maverick City.

  • A Hall of Fame to honor the legends who’ve paved the way (and probably soundtracked your childhood).

  • And even a multi-use space for live performances, gatherings, and maybe a spontaneous worship night or two.

Basically, it’s like a mashup of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, a Dove Awards show, and a Sunday morning service.

Why does this matter?

Because Christian music isn’t just background noise. These songs have been the soundtrack to breakthroughs, and car ride worship services. Jackie Patillo, President of the GMA, put it perfectly:

“This is a beacon of light. A place to expose, promote, and celebrate the Gospel.”

Come Labor Day weekend, the Museum of Christian & Gospel Music opens its doors — and you’re going to want to be first in line. Whether you grew up on Petra and DC Talk or you’ve got “Jireh” on repeat, this museum is for you. It honors the songs that got us through, the people who wrote them, and the God who inspired it all.

Road trip, anyone?
