How Do I Find True Freedom?

The Bible says the word “free” 160 times.

The average human lifespan is half of that number. That means that God could speak over you every year of your life to tell you that you are free…and that still would be only half of the story.

When you think of the word freedom, your mind probably goes to a million places. Maybe you think of political rights and freedoms or even vacation and relaxation to escape from everyday life. If you are a follower of Christ, you are already free. You are not bound to anything.

Yes, you will struggle and you will have hurts and disappointments. It’s only human to find ourselves focused on the stresses of our today and even our tomorrows. But, in Jesus, we find and will always have true freedom.

Jesus set you free from any sin, shame, or guilt. The only thing left to do is speak truth over yourself from God’s word when those anxieties and battles rise against you.

“For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” | 2 Corinthians 3:17

“Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” | John 8:31-32

“In my distress, I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free.” | Psalm 118:5

“For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.” | Galatians 5:13

There is power in declaring God’s word with our worship! As believers, we don’t fight for victory we fight from victory. Even when we feel defeated and the world seems to crash down on us, God has already won the battle. There’s true freedom in His victory. Don’t lose hope, with Him all things are possible.

“But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.” | 1 Corinthians 15:57
