Cory Asbury and Forrest Frank Want to Create a Christian Super Bowl Halftime Show

If there’s one thing that’s talked about in America as much as the Super Bowl, it’s the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Who’s gonna perform? What’s gonna happen this year?

And depending on the performance, parents have wondered if they should even turn the TV off for the entire halftime show. Cory Asbury apparently had the same thought and now he’s trying to do something about it.

The “Reckless Love” singer recently posted a video calling for an alternative, family-friendly halftime show featuring the biggest names in Christian music. He wants to fill that same 15-minute slot with worship, joy, and the name of Jesus.

“Every year, everyone is all up in arms about the performer for the halftime show. So what if we threw together an alternate show at a different venue with just the biggest Christian artists and glorified the name of Jesus on a gigantic scale?” | Cory Asbury

And he’s not joking — he’s already recruiting. Forrest Frank not only confirmed it, he reposted Cory’s video with the caption that he thinks it should actually happen.

Their vision: A live-streamed event, straight to phones, TVs, and tablets happening at the exact same time as the Super Bowl halftime show.

The Comments Section Turned Into a Lineup

As soon as Cory’s post went up, Christian artists started flooding the comments with “I’m in.”

Josiah Queen, Tauren Wells, Colton Dixon, Seph Schlueter, CAIN, Leanna Crawford, Ben Fuller, Riley Clemmons— all down. Even Phil Wickham and Candace Cameron Bure chimed in saying they’d love to be a part of it.

Someone even gave it a name already: “Holy Halftime.”

So… Could “Holy Halftime” Actually Happen?

It’s still just an idea for now, but if the internet has taught us anything, it’s that God can take something that starts as a fun thought and turn it into a massive movement.

Whether or not “Holy Halftime” becomes real, the message behind it is clear: people are hungry for hope. Tell us which artists you’d want to see take the stage, because we’ve already thought about it. 👇
