CeCe Winans Leads Powerful Worship in Her Tiny Desk Concert

Anyone in need of a praise break? 🙌

CeCe Winans visited NPR’s Tiny Desk in celebration of Black Music Month. Here’s what NPR quoted had to say about her set:

Winans laughed when she told me, “Ashley (producer of NPR Tiny Desk), you had me working today!” She dusted off songs she hadn’t performed in decades to craft this moment. (And that’s without even touching the groundbreaking work she did alongside her brother BeBe Winans.) From the joyous call and response of “Pray” to the crowd’s audible gasp at the opening line of “Alabaster Box” to the heartfelt “Goodness of God” singalong, this performance isn’t just nostalgic, it’s a reminder of Winans’ enduring spiritual and cultural impact. She is one of the most decorated gospel artists of all time — witness a living legend take the Tiny Desk to church.

But her impact goes beyond just a spiritual moment:  it’s a gospel movement. CeCe and her family have been encouraging hearts and lifting up the name of Jesus for generations. Just wait until you get about 18 minutes in, the camera pans to the audience, and every hand is lifted.

She shared this powerful word during her performance:

“God is faithful. And what I love about Him – He stays the same. Doesn’t matter what we’ve done or where we’ve been- I just want everybody to know that God loves you with an everlasting love. And because He never changes, we can always run to Him.” | CeCe Winans

Alongside favorites like “Believe For It,” “Come Jesus Come,” and “Goodness of God,” CeCe also reflected on what it meant to fall in love with the presence of Jesus as a child. For her, it was and still is a safe place. What a beautiful comfort to live in the safety of knowing we are protected by God.

It’s been a busy season for CeCe, from topping Billboard charts to collaborating with legends like TobyMac and Brandon Lake on their latest albums. She’s continuing to inspire and worship, wherever God leads her from the Tiny Desk to American Idol.
