“Counting My Blessings” Became Hard to Sing After Seph Schlueter Lost His Baby

You might know Seph’s powerful song Counting My Blessings, but what you may not know is how deeply it was tested in the next season of his life.

In August of this year, Seph and his wife received the unfortunate news that their baby had no heartbeat. When they realized that their baby girl had gone to heaven, they were devastated and angry with God.

Seph shares in this interview that it became hard to minister and pour into others and sing of God’s goodness in the middle of heartbreak.

“Faith is a gift from the Lord, but it’s also something we choose and get to step into. You have to choose to believe even when you don’t see it. You have to choose to have hope even when you don’t feel it.” | Seph Schlueter

If you’re facing tragedy today, let Seph’s words wash over you. In addition to this powerful chat about unanswered prayers, Wally plays a fun game based on Seph’s new song afterward.

“Even if I don’t get an answer, I get His presence.” | Seph Schlueter

If you missed it, Seph leaves us with a powerful truth: on Earth, we can offer God something we won’t be able to in heaven—worship through the pain. You may not have answers, but one day you will.

“So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” | 2 Corinthians 4:8
