Psalm 34 (Read by Jordan Ward from “Consumed By Fire”)

Here is what I READ:
What did Jesus say to the woman caught in adultery?
“Neither do I [condemn you]. Go and sin no more.”
I’m sure they interrupted a great Bible study. Jesus was teaching a crowd of early risers in the temple when the religious leaders brought a woman caught in the act of adultery. They pronounce their judgment – “the law of Moses says to stone her.”
But wait. Let’s look at what the Law of Moses actually says…
Deuteronomy 22:22 – “If a man is discovered committing adultery, both he and the woman must die. In this way, you will purge Israel of such evil.”
“Both… must die?” So… where’s the dude? If she was caught in the act, there must be another person, right?
Scripture tells us that these religious leaders didn’t care about justice. They were looking for a way to trap Jesus into saying something they could use against Him – and Jesus (who knows everything) knew their sinful hearts.
APPLY:
Jesus sees through the hypocrisy of those who want to mis-use God’s Word. He also sees the heart of those who are truly broken over their sin. Who am I going to be?
MEDITATE:
Psalm 51:17 – “The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.”
PRAY:
Jesus, thank you for your complete forgiveness! Please teach me to run away from the things that break your heart.
Today we’re reading John 8 from the New Living Translation.
