3 Things You Didn’t Know About Lecrae’s Latest Album Reconstruction

From deconstruction to reconstruction.

“God turns our mess into a masterpiece. This album is how I’ve been reconstructed, my faith has been reconstructed, and others can be reconstructed too.” | Lecrae

Lecrae’s tenth studio album, Reconstruction, has arrived. It’s a personal record that leans into healing, community, and honest conversation. His first work in three years, spanning 19 tracks- fans are calling this album some of his best work yet. Here are three things that might surprise you.

1) This album started with community

When Lecrae previewed Reconstruction in Atlanta, he turned the listening experience into a hands-on community event: fans and volunteers helped packed more than 700 backpacks for kids in need.

The album rollout intentionally pairs music with service, reinforcing the album’s themes about rebuilding and caring for those around us. The “reconstruction of community.”

2) The guest list will make you do a double-take

If you skim the feature list, you might think: “Wait, Jon Bellion? Killer Mike? Jackie Hill Perry?” — and you’d be right. Reconstruction blends mainstream and faith-based voices. The track “There For You” features Fridayy and Lecrae doesn’t even sing on it. Other respected voices like Jackie Hill Perry, Propaganda, Hollyn, and Madison Ryann Ward also appear across the album.

Here’s Jackie explaining some of her lyricism on her and Lecrae’s “Tell No Lie.”

3) The release of the album was the tenth anniversary of Lecrae’s cousin’s death.

Lecrae addresses grief and loss head-on. He’s shared in interviews that “Headphones” (which features T.I. and Killer Mike) emerged from processing the death of his cousin, who overdosed — a reality that surfaced as he rebuilt faith, boundaries, and perspective.

“If my brother got headphones in Heaven, I hope he hear this song.” | “Headphones”

The grief thread runs through tracks like “LIFE” and “Headphones,” and Lecrae has talked openly in interviews about how writing and music helped him wrestle with loss and grief. That honesty is a big part of why the album feels so vulnerable and resonant.

Reconstruction is more than an album — it’s Lecrae’s testimony that God can take broken pieces and build something new. It reminds us that faith is not static; it grows and rebuilds.

If you’ve ever walked through your own season of deconstruction, or even doubts we all feel, this project offers hope that reconstruction is possible, too.
