10 Worship Songs to Remind Us to Give Thanks

Being grateful is not just for the turkey y’all.

One of the most powerful moments in the New Testament is when Jesus feeds over 5,000 people with just two fish and five loaves. Right before this miracle, He did something simple but powerful—He gave thanks.

“Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.” | Matthew 14:19-21

Another important note is that shortly before this miracle, Jesus received the news that His cousin, John the Baptist, had been beheaded. Even in Jesus’ grief, He gave thanks and He served others. Giving thanks—even in the middle of pain and hardship—is a powerful act of faith.
