You may have heard today’s verse before, but wow, it’s a good one. Really take this to heart today.
Read (from the New Living Translation)
The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.
2 He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
3 He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to his name.
4 Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,[a]
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.Psalm 23:1-4

Notes from the Life Application Study Bible
Death casts a frightening shadow over us because we are entirely helpless in its presence. We can struggle with other enemies – pain, suffering, disease, injury – but strength and courage cannot overcome death. It has the final word Only one person can walk with us through death’s dark valley and bring us safely to the other side – the God of life, our shepherd. Because life is uncertain, we should follow this shepherd who offers us eternal comfort.
Thank God for being right on time when I need Him the most.
How amazing is God and His faithfulness to me and all of us. Thank you for reminding me that no matter what may happen today or in the future that God is always with me and will never leave me alone and that God holds the future and cares for each and everyone of us.
When my husband died, that is when I reached out to God. And that’s when I realized He was with me/us all along. The amount of comfort knowing that I was not alone to face life without my husband kept me going.
