Amber Guyger, a former police officer, was convicted in the death of Botham Jean this week. The story is full of tragedy and grief, yet something extraordinary happened today.
Brandt Jean, the eighteen year old brother of Botham, told Amber he forgives her, loves her, and hopes she could find peace in Jesus.
Brandt’s gracious and powerful act reminds us Jesus’s love is more powerful than any evil or misfortune the world can throw at us. When the news feels overwhleming, like it so often does lately, I will remember the beauty, hope, and power Jesus can inspire in each of us.
