Tedashii’s younger sister Jackie was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in the fall of 2020. In June of 2021 the family moved Jackie to hospice care and a few days later she passed on to be with the Lord leaving behind her husband, 3 children, her siblings, and parents who all are so thankful for the love and support they have received. On August 13, Tedashii took to Instagram for one of the first times since the loss of his sister and shared his thoughts on finding joy and hope in the midst of suffering. AUDIO TRANSCRIPTION “One thing that I wanted to share about because I’ve been thinking about it a lot in this season is Joy. Right? The Bible says the joy of the Lord will be our strength. And I’ve been really thinking about that man. It’s not common to consider joy in the midst of sorrow and grief. And even though there is room, and the Bible gives precedent and permission for grieving and sorrow, there’s still this idea of joy that is present. And the reason it’s been on my mind is because I feel like there have been days where I’ve felt hopeless and I didn’t even want to get out of bed and honestly, I needed strength and that verse came to mind. When the Bible says the joy of the Lord is our strength in the book of Nehemiah, it’s talking to the children of Israel who had just come back from exile and honestly there feeling kinda condemned because they failed the Lord. They failed his standard. They’re feeling condemned and sorrowful and for some reason the Bible says that they are told to go and eat and drink and share with others and have joy and that joy of the Lord will be their strength and I consider that because in certain moments I can relate to the fact that there is a hopelessness that exists and joy is the thing that kinda removes it. Not just finding hope but it feels like for me in my experience joy solidifies the hope that I have and so even though I have tears most days and even though I’m frustrated and angry, I’m fighting for joy. Because I want to hold on to the hope that I have and I need that strength. And so, man, we’re all going through something, I know I’m not the only one. We’re living in this fluctuating pandemic world where we’re struggling with even day to day responsibilities and you know job and life and family and whatever. And so we all are in a position where at times we’re going to have to choose joy. And not just choose it because we’re supposed to be happy. There are tons of people out here who are looking at people who grieve or who cry or who feel sad or down and they look at them in a sense of shame or condemnation or even just looking down upon them and honestly for most of those people they are living in unhealth because they are choosing to ignore what’s needed for better mental health and better emotional health. But if you’re trying to be healthy and you’re also trying to be holy, I think it’s something to consider that even in the midst of great sorrow there can be joy, because even in the midst of being tempted to be hopeless the real hope that we have is still true. And I feel like joy is the lens to look through to not only see it but to hold on to it and maintain it. And so that’s my hope. That we would fight for a level of joy and we wouldn’t let go.” Tedashii Shares His Story of Addiction & Forgiveness

Anne Wilson and her family experienced a devastating tragedy. A hopeless situation forced Anne to evaluate who God really is. She had to make a decision if she believed God and if she could trust Him even when it didn’t make sense. Through processing this life event and learning to worship through hardship, God led Anne on a different journey than she expected. He is giving her opportunity to share her story and to give hope and encouragement to others who are in difficult times. This experience also inspired Anne’s song “My Jesus”. The song is a worshipful tribute to her Heavenly Father that demonstrates her desire for people to know that Jesus can help us through any situation we are going through. It also reminds us that God uses our trials, so we can help others and tell our story of how God works in our lives. Jordan St. Cyr has also lived through a painful situation with his daughter. TobyMac lost his 21 year son, Truett, in October of 2019. (Find ways to continue to pray for his family.) He has since written the song 21 Years / See the Light to honor his son, and is opening up about it in concerts: A lot of people have come up to me and my wife in the last few months and have said things like, “Hey, you’ll see him again. You’ll see your son again.” Listen, I believe that with all my heart. I do, I really do. I’m counting on it. But I will say this: The question is, “Why?” Why do I get to see my son again? Because his good outweighed his bad? No, he was my wild-child. His good didn’t outweigh his bad. And my good doesn’t outweigh my bad. There’s only one reason: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.“ That is a promise. That is a gift. It’s a gift to you and me. It was a gift to my son. But the thing about a gift is, you have to accept a gift. I don’t know where you are on that tonight. But man, tonight could be the night for you. It really could. I ain’t no preacher, but I believe that. I know my son accepted that gift because I spoke to him many, many times about it. And we’re counting on this, I love this: God gave his first-born Son so that we could see our first-born son again. Chat With Someone About How To Receive This Gift

Bear is everywhere! This year the lead singer of NEEDTOBREATHE has inscribed his name in collabs with Carrie Underwood, We The Kingdom, and Ellie Holcomb. His latest collab blends fun summer vibes with some sobering lyrics. “Got a lot of bad days still coming but a sweet ever after,” opens the chorus and acknowledges the struggle of life and the overwhelming hope of eternity in heaven. The tension of the now and then strike all the right chords to make me want to swagger through the painful present with an absolute certainty of an awesome future. The chorus ends with, “The sun’s comin’ up on the stairway to heaven in the sweet ever after.” Even though Bear and Ellie aren’t in their 20’s anymore, this song reminds me that in the context of eternity, we’re all young. “I prolly shouldn’t write this,” serves as the opening line for Mat Kearney’s new single “I Don’t Really Care.” In his new song, he makes his humorous yet existential disdain for social media influencing crystal clear. He half pokes fun and half hates on social media culture. The second verse holds the most potent lyrical trash talk for an un-named influencer. “Man, why you write a sonnet just tryin’ to get a comment? You aint nobody’s prophet. Just tryin’ to make a profit.” Although his song takes hard shots at social media culture, he doesn’t critique it aimlessly. His answer to social media addiction is, “Can we just watch the sunset and forget how we compare? I wish that I could say that I don’t really care.” Watch Cory Asbury Talk About His Social Media Addiction
