Streamer Walks 3,000 Miles Across America to Follow God's Calling

What can you accomplish in 124 days?

For Twitch streamer HMBLZAYY, whose real name is Isaiah Thomas, the answer is walking 3,000 miles across the United States.

Monday, he completed an incredible journey from Philadelphia to California after spending 124 days on the road. But this wasn't just about proving he could do something difficult. Thomas said his "Faith Walk" had a greater purpose: raising money to build a trade school for teenagers who can't afford college.

The journey wasn't easy.

He was hit by two cars during the walk, battled exhaustion and faced countless challenges that would have caused many people to quit. Yet he kept moving forward, trusting God every step of the way.

Along the trek, thousands of people watched his journey 24/7 online. They not only sent daily messages and inspiration, they witnessed strangers stopping to help push his cart up steep hills, handing him ice-cold water on hot days, offering meals and even praying with him on the side of the road.

By the time he reached California, Thomas had raised nearly $200,000 to help make his vision a reality.

His story reminds us that God can use ordinary people willing to take extraordinary steps of faith.

Here are three lessons that stood out from his journey:

1. If God tells you to do it, DO IT!

Following God's calling isn't always comfortable or easy. Sometimes it sounds impossible. But throughout Scripture, we see God asking ordinary people to trust Him with extraordinary assignments.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. – Proverbs 3:5-6

Thomas could have listened to those who said it couldn't be done. Instead, he stayed focused on the mission God had placed before him.

2. Don’t Listen to the Naysayers

Every big dream comes with doubters. Noah was mocked while building the ark. Nehemiah was ridiculed while rebuilding Jerusalem's walls. Even Jesus faced criticism.

Thomas could have listened to those who said it couldn't be done. Instead, he stayed focused on the mission God had placed before him.

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. – Galatians 6:9

Not every voice deserves your attention. Sometimes faith means tuning out the noise so you can hear God's voice more clearly.

 3. As Long As You Keep Going & Follow God, He’ll Be With You Every Step of the Way

One of the most powerful parts of Thomas' journey wasn't just that he finished—it was seeing how God provided along the way.

People appeared at just the right moment with water, encouragement, a helping hand, or prayer. It's a beautiful reminder that while God may not remove every obstacle, He promises His presence through every one of them.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. – Joshua 1:9

You may not be walking 3,000 miles across America, but maybe God is asking you to take the next step in your own faith journey. It may seem overwhelming today, but remember: God rarely reveals the entire path—He simply asks us to trust Him with the next step.

After all, every 3,000-mile journey begins with one faithful step.

Life can feel like an endless cycle of tasks, leaving little room for purpose. But when you focus on God’s next step for you, just like Thomas, you’ll find that God is at work around you, in you, and through you. To learn how to flourish in life, check out this FREE Bible Study:
