God's Pit Crew Brings Hope in the Fast Lane

When a tornado tears through a neighborhood, floodwaters fill a home, or a powerful storm leaves families facing unimaginable loss, recovery is about far more than clearing debris. It is about helping people find hope and a focus on God’s plan for their future.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” - Jeremiah 29:11

That is where Hope Media Group is honored to partner with God’s Pit Crew, a faith-based disaster response nonprofit committed to bringing hope, healing, and restoration to people in the aftermath of disaster.

Hope That Shows Up

Since 1999, God’s Pit Crew has responded to more than 200 disasters across the United States and internationally. What began when founders Randy and Terri Johnson traveled from Virginia to help survivors of the Oklahoma City tornado has grown into a ministry equipped with trained volunteers, relief supplies, equipment, and a readiness to respond when communities need help most.

After tornadoes and severe storms, volunteers may clear fallen trees, remove debris, tarp damaged roofs, or help make homes safer. Following flooding, crews can assist with flooded-home recovery and other difficult cleanup.

God’s Pit Crew also distributes essential supplies through its Blessing Buckets and regional relief efforts. When immediate response gives way to long-term recovery, teams help rebuild homes and restore places families can call home again.

But disaster relief is never just about what volunteers do with their hands.

It is also about how they show up.

God’s Pit Crew describes its calling as being the hands and feet of Jesus. That means meeting physical needs while also offering encouragement, prayer, and compassion in some of life's most difficult moments.

We Can Be Part of the Response

That does not mean every person needs to deploy into a disaster zone. There are many ways to participate, and every one of them matters.

Pray

Pray for families and communities walking through the long process of recovery. Pray for wisdom and strength for local leaders, first responders, relief organizations, churches, and volunteers. And pray that those who are hurting would experience God's presence and the care of people willing to walk alongside them.

Volunteer

If you have the opportunity, consider becoming part of God's Pit Crew. Volunteers can serve in disaster deployments and rebuilding efforts, as well as in other ways that support the ministry. God’s Pit Crew emphasizes that trained and committed volunteers are at the heart of its response.

Give and Support

Disaster response requires trucks, tools, supplies, equipment, building materials, and people who can get to communities quickly. Financial support helps God’s Pit Crew prepare before disaster strikes and respond when families need help most.

Hope Doesn't Have to Wait

We cannot prevent every storm. We cannot undo every loss. But we can choose how we respond when disaster comes.

Visible hope starts with people willing to make a difference.

We are grateful to partner with God's Pit Crew and to help share their mission. If you feel called to get involved, learn more about serving, supporting disaster relief, or joining the crew, fill out the form below!
