The U.S. Through the Eyes of the World
Posted 4 months ago - Jul 3, 2026
From: Nolita W. de TheoI grew up in Durango, Mexico, and some of my earliest memories are of visitors arriving from other countries—especially the United States.
My parents always made a point of showing them around and introducing them to experiences they couldn't find back home: the Sierra Madre mountains, carne asada tacos, and the bustling downtown market. Seeing my hometown through the eyes of people who had never been there wasn't anything new to me.
That's why I've been fascinated by what people from around the world have been saying as they visit our cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Some of their reactions are hilarious, while others are surprisingly thoughtful.
Watching people marvel at the size of a Walmart, try certain foods for the first time, or compare the different climates reminds us that there are many uniquely American experiences you simply won't find anywhere else. And honestly, they're worth celebrating.
There's something fun—and even refreshing—about seeing everyday life as if it were brand new again.
Visitors from around the world have been sharing their reactions to the weather, the food, and America's larger-than-life stores, and we love experiencing the familiar through their eyes.
1. The Stadiums
Many of our European visitors have been amazed by the size, scale, and amenities of American stadiums.
2. The Culture
In Texas, cowboy culture is still very much alive. From boots and hats to barbecue and Southern hospitality, you'll find reminders of the state's rich ranching history everywhere you go. Cowboys played a major role in shaping Texas, and that heritage continues to influence daily life today.
3. The Stores
The United States is known for its enormous stores and almost overwhelming selection of products. Watching visitors experience a Walmart for the first time reminds many of us what it felt like the first time we saw so much variety under one roof.
4. The Flavors
Just as America offers an incredible variety of products, it also offers an incredible variety of food. Some regions are known for their Hispanic influences, while others reflect Asian, Irish, Italian, and countless other cultural traditions. Flavors from around the world, ready to welcome visitors from around the world.
So, to everyone visiting during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, we hope you continue enjoying this incredible country through your own unique experiences.
Welcome—and enjoy your stay!
