10 Christian Hip Hop Artists You Need to Hear That Aren’t Kanye West

Kanye West dropped his new Album “Jesus is King” last week and the whole world couldn’t stop talking about it, including us.

If you enjoyed listening to his album, here are songs by 10 Christian hip hop artists you should check out.

1.) Steven Malcolm || Not To Us/Good Love

“Not to Us” covers a lot of ground thematically, but overall it echoes 1 Corinthians 10:31, “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

2.) Tedashii || Home feat. David Crowder

Tadashii’s “Home” is a powerful and beautiful song that reminds us our hope is not found in this world. You can almost hear the relief that washes over you when you finally surrender everything to God during Crowder’s vocals.

3.) Gawvi || Fight for Me feat. Lecrae

Gawvi’s song “Fight For Me” blends pop and trap into a bright and hopeful song that inspires us to keep fighting even when we feel like giving up.

4.) Trip Lee || Sweet Victory

Hope is also the theme for Trip Lee’s “Sweet Victory.” These lyrics beautifully and honestly describe how it feels to desperately seek God when life is falling apart, and the song ends in a worshipful melody about how Jesus’ sacrifice is our ultimate victory.

5.) nobigdyl. || Close

What do you do when you don’t feel like you aren’t enough or worthy of love because of your past mistakes? This song grapples with coming to terms that God loves you despite all of your flaws and failures.

6.)WHATUPRG || FREE

“Free” is a celebration and proclamation that Christ has freed us from all sin.

7.) Andy Mineo || Shame feat. Josh Garrels

What I love about hip hop, is that it has the potential to be so incredibly honest in a way that pop and other genres can’t. This song is the emotional confession of a man ashamed of his pornography addiction, his doubts, and his failures as he realizes that God is big enough to forgive him.

8.) KB || Crowns & Thorns (Oceans)

If you think the hook sounds familiar, it’s because it’s “Oceans” by Hillsong United. “Crowns & Thorns” reminds us to further God’s kingdom by fully surrendering to God.

9.) Beautiful Eulogy || Beautiful Eulogy

Beautiful Eulogy is sort of an experimental hip hop group that is worshipful, folksy, and artsy all at the same time. There is so much to unpack in this song, but at its core, it’s about how there is nothing to fear in death.

9.) Jackie Hill Perry || Lamentations

“Lamentations” is a raw take on struggling to die to your sin. It ends with a powerful verse from “Come Thou Fount” reminding us that following God requires daily sacrifice.
