I almost lost a tooth that day. š¬
Letās address the elephant in the room: church can be⦠awkward. Doesnāt matter if you grew up in pews every Sunday or just walked into your first service yesterday, there are always going to be cringey moments.
Case in point: I grew up in a ministry family, which meant if the doors were open, we were there. I even led worship, playing keys and singing, until one Sunday when my mic stand betrayed me.
The worship leader walked across the stage, tripped over the stand, and boomāthe mic smacked me straight in the mouth. We just kept going like nothing happened, but later that day, my youth pastor sent me a clip of the livestream. Letās just say my teeth made their internet debut, and thankfully, all of them survived.
Thatās the beauty of church fails: theyāre embarrassing in the moment, but hilarious later. Thank goodness you don’t need a perfect church service for God to move. Whether a babyās crying, the lyrics get butchered, or a prayer request turns into a sermon, God is in the middle of all that mess.
So laugh with usābecause the joy of the Lord is our strength, and sometimes that joy looks like barely surviving a mic attack.
1. Plant v. Drummer
Talk about not missing a beat. When I think about “church fails,” this clip of the drummer getting annihilated by a plant is the first thing that comes to my mind. Why did no one come to help him?? šæš„
2. On Fire for Jesus š„
This one scared me a little but. But this pastor- unphased. šÆ
3. Heavenly What?!
I once had a Youth Pastor who said, “Jesus farted too.” I don’t think this guy meant to say fart in the pulpit. š
4. Baby Baptism AccidentĀ
Raise your hand if you waited for a mom to take her crying baby to the back of the church or to the nursery- we’ve all been there. But for this moment, Parents: traumatized. Congregation: entertained
5. Tower of Babel Worship
Every time that my worship leader messed up the lyrics or sang the melody wrong on a verse, she would just sing it again. Don’t know if that’s the best method, but it may have helped this guy.
*Bonus*
Now this is definitely not a fail- it’s a WIN. But it’s one of my favorite church clips ever. Musicianship with a band is one thing, but playing behind a pastor is a whole new ball game. And this was a home run.
