Why Casting Crowns is Stepping Back After Decades

One week ago, Mark Hall announced that Casting Crowns would be taking a much-needed break.

This decision comes after a whirlwind year for the band—with the passing of Mark’s father, unexpected challenges like stolen tour buses, and the intensity of their 20th-anniversary tour.

“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. Taking a break for health and rest.” | Mark Hall

While some fans wondered if this was the end, Mark assured them it was not goodbye but rather a pause to recharge. When I read this announcement I was reminded of lyrics from their song “Just Be Held”:

“Your world’s not falling apart, it’s falling into place
I’m on the throne, stop holding on and just be held”

Let’s come together in prayer for Casting Crowns as they embrace this season of rest and renewal. Sometimes, God’s answer isn’t always “go,” sometimes it’s “wait.”
